Realtime online PROCESSING

The online services are based on the Distra platform
(www.distra.com) and provide:
- Online switching
- Protocol conversion
- Stand-in authorization
- EMV cryptogram validation and calculation
- Scheme, merchant and terminal rules validation

 

Back end PROCESSING

The back end is based on the BPC SmartVista suite
(www.bpcbt.com) and provides:
- Clearing and settlement services following mainly the
Berlin Group standards, rules and procedures
- Funds transfer facility
- Interchange Fees validation and calculation engine
- Reporting and invoicing services
- Acquirer back office: merchant contract management,
invoicing and reporting

 

INTER BANK PROCESSING

payfair uses Distra as Switch platform, which is already
used for Faster Payments Service (FPS) in UK.

 

Overall performance

 

NETWORK AVAILABILITY

Theoretically 100%. Distra's distributed architecture inherently
provides a replicated, scalable and fault-tolerant operating
environment for enterprise class payment applications. The
Distra platform follows a true distributed computing model, with
the application distributed as a collection of distributed software
services, across separate nodes or servers within the platform.

 

The platform manages two distinct types of services:
the peer-to-peer services are managed in such a way that
distribution is supported via the reliable messaging mechanism
for state distribution and each service is considered a peer.
Primary-secondar y services are replicated in such a way that
one is designated as the primary instance and the others are
considered ordered replicas or slaves, each being kept in
constant synchronization and the Distra platform orchestrating
the failover of the primary to an available secondary instance in
the event of failure.

 

 

SWITCHING TIME PER TRANSACTION

Less than 300 msec.


CARDHOLDER AUTHENTICATION

- Card based emv transactions:
- the cardholder is offline authentified by the ICC.
Nevertheless the online server is ready to provide online
pin verification.

- Mobile phone authentication:
- PayFair@ products suite (i.e. payfair@Internet,
payfair@POS...) are revolutionary new ways for people
to pay for their purchases online or at POS using their
mobile phone. The customer enters his/her mobile
number and a secret password, then the payfair
application calls the customer's mobile and sends an
audio file to their computer or to the POS. The customer's
phone 'listens' to the audio file, which is decoded by the
payfair application at the other end of the line. Then the
transaction is submitted for bank authorization.

STAND-IN PROCESSING

The system is ready for basic stand-in options using
velocity and/or positive card files, and spending limits
facility.

Transactions authorized in stand-in are stored and
optionally forwarded on-line to the host authorizer when
it becomes available.

 

CLEARING & SETTLEMENT (C&S) FUNCTIONALITIES

- The clearing and settlement system is based on
BPC Smar tVista C & S Suite (Recommended by Gartner
Group)
- The System is based on Berlin Group format,
rules, procedures and standards (www.berlin-group.org).

payfair is currently connected to the payfair network.
Our standard switch provides interfaces to most national
and inter national gateways and provides also facilities to
put rapidly in place new inter faces thanks to our flexible
for mat and protocol conversion facility.

Customers are authenticated by PIN code and/or sound.

Customers withdraw cash at ATM with their mobile phone

by PIN code and/or sound. Usable by cardless
